Key features of Ayushman yojana

Ayushman Bharat Yojana, also known as Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), is a flagship healthcare scheme launched by the Government of India in September 2018. The primary aim of this initiative is to provide financial protection and affordable healthcare to the economically vulnerable sections of society.Key features of Ayushman Bharat Yojana include: Coverage: PM-JAY provides health insurance coverage of up to ₹5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization.It targets over 10 crore economically disadvantaged families, approximately 50 crore beneficiaries. Beneficiary Identification: Beneficiaries are identified based on the socio-economic and caste census data.The scheme is designed to cover both rural and urban poor families. Emphasis on Women and Children: Special focus is given to women, children, and senior citizens.There are specific packages for various health conditions prevalent among these groups. Cashless Transactions: The scheme operates on a cashless and paperless model, ensuring seamless and hassle-free healthcare services for the beneficiaries. Empanelled Hospitals: A network of both public and private hospitals is empanelled to provide services under the scheme.These hospitals need to meet certain quality standards to participate. Portability: The scheme is portable across the country, allowing beneficiaries to access services in any empanelled hospital, regardless of their location. Technology Integration: Technology plays a crucial role in the implementation of PM-JAY, with the use of IT systems for beneficiary identification, hospital empanelment, and claims processing. Pre-Authorization of Treatment: Pre-authorization of treatments is mandatory, ensuring that only necessary and eligible treatments are covered. Fraud Control: Measures are in place to prevent and control fraudulent activities in the implementation of the scheme.Ayushman Bharat Yojana has significantly contributed to improving access to healthcare for millions of Indians who were previously unable to afford essential medical services.
